About this tool
Click a line of the document’s own text and rewrite it: Toolpit reads the page’s content stream, deletes the original glyphs and draws yours in their place at the same position, size and colour — so the result is still real, selectable text. On top of that you can highlight a paragraph, box a figure, drop in a logo, or sign where it says sign. Every other online editor asks you to upload the contract first; this one never does, because the whole editor is running in this tab.
Your files never leave your device. Toolpit has no upload step and no server that can see your document — the work happens in this tab, on your machine, and stops the moment you close it.
How to edit a PDF

Questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. There is no upload step and no server that could receive the file — the tool runs as code in this browser tab, works on the copy your browser opened, and forgets it when you close the tab. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s network panel and run the tool. You will see the page, its scripts and the ads that pay for the site — and no request carrying your file, because there is no endpoint to carry it to.
Can I sign a PDF with this?
Yes. Use the Draw tool to sign with a mouse, trackpad or finger, or use the Image tool to place a photo of your signature — a PNG with a transparent background looks best. This produces a visible signature on the page, not a cryptographic digital signature.
Can I edit the text that is already in the PDF?
Yes. Choose “Edit text” and the tool reads the page’s own text, boxes every line it finds, and lets you rewrite any of them. The original glyphs are deleted from the file and yours are drawn in their place at the same position, size, colour and typeface — so the result is still real, selectable, searchable text rather than a picture patched over the old words.
Why can’t I make a paragraph re-wrap after editing it?
Because a PDF has no paragraphs. Text is stored as instructions — "set this font, move the pen here, draw these glyphs" — with no record of which lines belong together, so there is nothing to re-flow. Replacing a line is exact; a longer replacement simply occupies more width, and the tool warns you when that happens so you can check it has not run into anything. No PDF editor can reflow arbitrary text, and the ones that appear to are re-typesetting the page from a guess about its structure.
Nothing is highlighted when I choose “Edit text”. Why?
The page has no text layer — it is a scan or an exported image, so there are no glyphs to replace, only pixels. Use a box filled white to cover it and the Text tool to type over the top.
Will my marks be editable later, or are they permanent?
They are flattened into the page content, so they look identical in every viewer and survive printing and flattening. The trade-off is that they cannot be selected and deleted afterwards — which is usually what you want for a signature or a redaction box.
Is there a watermark or a page limit?
Never. There is no watermark, no page limit, no daily cap and no paid tier that unlocks the real output. Toolpit costs nothing to run per file, because your device does the work.
